Rays up! We’ve got ourselves a tied series as the Rays head up to Cleveland for Game 3 of the ALCS on Thursday. Let’s keep the momentum going!
There are a ton of great events this week, including loads of fun horror movie screenings. If you’re looking for plans tonight, Green Bench has one of my all-time favorites, Scream, playing in the Beer Garden at 7:30. Let’s dive in.

COCKTAIL CRAWL

If you’re familiar with the St. Pete Coffee Crawl (or Burg Battles), and you love craft cocktails, I’ve got the event for you.
The same team behind those popular and always-sold-out crawls is bringing the first ever month-long Cocktail Crawl to St. Pete in November.
It's a month of craft cocktails at a curated lineup of local bars, with a buy-one-get-one deal at every stop. Expect a mix of old favorites and new spots you probably haven’t tried yet!
Here’s how it works. Pick up a digital Crawl Pass, then visit any bar in the lineup during the month. Order two cocktails, tap Redeem in front of your bartender, and the lower-priced drink is free. Bring your partner for a date, a best friend for a girl date, round up the group chat, or go solo and get some “me” time. Either way, you get a reason to try the bar you keep meaning to try.
Passes are limited, and the waitlist is open now. Joining it gets you early-bird access and discounted pricing. Keep an eye out here and on Instagram for some early lineup teasers in the coming weeks.

PUMPKIN TIME

Last year’s selection.
Pumpkin season in the Burg runs through Halloween, and the patches are open now. Just do yourself a favor and wait to carve until the 29th at the earliest. My jack-o’-lanterns last <24 hours in our humidity.

Some of my finest work.
The St. Pete Pier patch at Family Park is free and open through October 25. Hours are weeknights 5-9 PM, Fridays 5-10 PM, Saturdays 11 AM-10 PM and Sundays 11 AM-9 PM. There are pumpkins for sale, but I’d say it’s more photo-op heavy there.
Gallagher's Pumpkins & Christmas Trees (7401 4th St. N) is open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM, with a petting zoo and exotic animals. A St. Pete classic, this one has lots of photo ops and even more pumpkins.
Two church patches run through October 31. Riviera United Methodist (175 62nd Ave. N) is open Sunday through Friday noon to 8 PM and Saturday 9 AM-8 PM. Clearview United Methodist (4515 38th Ave. N), now in its 29th year, is open weekdays 3 to 8 PM, Saturdays 9 AM to 8 PM and Sundays noon to 8 PM, or until the pumpkins run out. This one is my neighborhood spot and where we source ours!
Want a full day out? Boyd Hill's Autumn Harvest is rescheduled to Saturday, October 24. Or, DK Farms in Largo is open through October 31.

FORAGE TO FEAST

Beech Kombucha's Garden to Table Dinner is back for its fourth year! If you’re tired of Sysco foods and want something that you know is local, Beech is delivering.
The 2026 edition is Monday, October 19 at 5:30 PM in the garden at Beech (3100 Freemont Ter. S.). The theme is Forage to Feast: A Celebration of the WILD Harvest, and it’s a multi-course dinner built around wild, native, and garden-grown foods, served family style at long tables.
It's a garden, it's dusk, and you're sitting with old and new friends under the twinkling lights while you enjoy local foods. That's the whole pitch, and it works.
Tickets are $150 for one or $285 for two, pre-paid and non-refundable, though you can transfer them. Reserve your spot here.

PETE’S MOVES DOWN THE STREET

Our manatee brothers, Pete's Bagels, made the four-block move down 1st Avenue South, and the new shop is open.
The Grand Central favorite now sits at 1900 1st Ave. S., in the old Good Intentions space. The building is a repurposed Quonset hut with room the old shop never had: a bigger kitchen, more seating, and space for the community hub owner Steven Peterman has been hoping to build. The previous location had structural damage, and the team managed to move everything over in only two days.
Brunch is on the horizon, and Pete's General Store, the sundries shop that started at the original Round Lake location, is coming back too.
If you've been loyal to the old spot, the new one is an easy walk or bike ride away. Grab a bagel, grab a table, and see how the space is shaping up.

SECOND CHANCE

Indie Flea's season opener moved to Saturday, October 17, because of expected storms this past weekend. It runs noon to 4 PM at Campbell Park (601 14th St. S.), with free admission and parking, hundreds of vendors, and food trucks Latin Lunchbox, Funnel Vision and Oopsy Daisy Sweets. Four more dates follow, starting November 8. See the dates and more info here.
Boyd Hill's Autumn Harvest was also rescheduled from October 10 to Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Pinellas Pioneer Settlement (3010 31st St. S.). Tickets are $5, kids 3 and under are free, and there are hayrides, games and crafts. Second chance at hayrides.

STONE CRAB SEASON
Stone crab season opens Thursday, October 15, and runs through May 1. Claws must measure at least 2 7/8 inches, and any crab carrying an egg sponge goes straight back in the water, unharmed.

The reason the season works at all is a trick of stone crab biology. A stone crab can drop its own claw on purpose, a reflex biologists call autotomy. When a claw is damaged or the crab is under stress, the animal sheds it and walks away, like a lizard and its tail.
Harvesters take advantage of that by removing the claws and releasing the crab, which regrows it over several molts. Adults take about a year to eighteen months, and after three molts the new claw reaches roughly 95 percent of its original size. The claw has to come off cleanly at the joint for regrowth to work, which is why it’s important that harvesters not twist it off. I’d also prefer if only one claw was allowed to be harvested, as it increases survival rates, but current laws allow both. Still, it’s better than eating the whole crab!
Prefer to let someone else do the trapping? Trophy Fish and Hookin’ Ain’t Easy in St. Pete and Billy's Stone Crab in Tierra Verde all put claws on the menu.

🌧️ The regional reservoir has nearly doubled in a month to 10.4 billion gallons. The extreme water shortage order still runs through March 31, 2027, so the one-day-a-week watering limit stays.
